Doctors give 81 year-old trolley attendant the all clear

Gerry Slater, 81, has also become a friend to hundreds of shoppers, who stop for a chat with the fit pensioner.
He has become such a familiar face that he greets regulars by their first name as they arrive for their weekly shop at the Asda store in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
The retail giant says Gerry is the oldest trolley attendant in the country but he says he has no intention of retiring.
Gerry, a father of four, grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of five, has worked at the store for 15 years and works three days a week.
He said: “The best thing about working here is meeting people.
“I love talking to customers and getting to know all the familiar faces. I’ve got no plans to retire yet – my job keeps me fit.”
